A Message from the Mayor
Fabrice Nivard
Mayor of Val-d’Oire-et-Gartempe
Representative to the CCHLeM
Dear residents, dear friends,
First, I would like to sincerely thank those who placed their trust in us. But I have not forgotten those who voted for another candidate, nor those who chose not to vote and those who cannot.
Being mayor means serving all the residents of our municipality, without distinction.
Since taking office, the municipal team has been hard at work. The first few weeks were spent getting to grips with the issues, meeting with departments, local stakeholders and associations, and setting up our working structure.
Val-d’Oire-et-Gartempe is a demanding municipality, given its size, its diversity, and the richness of its villages and hamlets. This diversity is a strength, provided we know how to listen to it, understand it and respect it.
It is also cultural. Our municipality is home to a significant English-speaking community, which is fully integrated into local life.
I want to say clearly: you are part of this community. Your presence enriches our commune, and we will continue to ensure that everyone feels included and heard. ( foreignresident@voeg.fr)
During this initial period, we have begun to lay the foundations for our work, remaining true to the commitments we made:
• to preserve the quality of life in our villages,
• to maintain and strengthen local services,
• to support the community and economic fabric,
• and to manage the council’s finances with rigour.
But beyond these actions, it is an approach we wish to establish: a local council that is accessible, responsive, present on the ground and attentive to every village.
We are fully aware of the expectations expressed during the campaign, particularly regarding the balance between villages, local engagement and ensuring everyone is considered. These concerns will continue to guide our work.
In this spirit, we will work to make local government more open, notably by setting up in due time a Youth Council and a Council of Elders, to involve all generations in collective decision-making.
The election period is now months behind us. The work ahead, however, is a long-term endeavour.
We will move forward with seriousness, responsibility, and a constant commitment to bringing people together.
Because our commune can only move forward together.
Val-d’Oire-et-Gartempe is built every day, through the commitment of everyone.
Kind regards
Fabrice Nivard, Mayor
